How To Be is scheduled to appear on IFC Festival Direct today, April 29.

To promote director Oliver Irving spoke with People magazine about the lead actor Rob Pattinson. He stated that Rob Pattinson almost quit acting:

"He was thinking about giving up acting and maybe doing music solely when this role [in How To Be] came along," the film's director, Oliver Irving, tells PEOPLE. "He wanted to play the roles he wasn't getting."
